Chair-Assisted Tai Chi Walking Certification
At the outset, it seems contradictory to train Tai Chi Walking with a chair. How can you walk with a chair? Isn’t the whole point to be walking, rather than sitting or holding? But those with more serious balance issues, or who are recovering from surgery, etc., need an option to regular, unsupported Tai Chi Walking. That’s where this program comes in.
After working with clients of various balance challenges in my Tai Chi Walking classes, I’ve developed techniques to stair-step them to greater confidence and ability. Many of the methods shared in my previous Tai Chi Walking Training can be adapted to a chair-assisted program. I will share these techniques in this training.
In this 2-hour training session - a supplement to the previous Tai Chi Walking Training & Certification - Allison will cover:
Chair Types, Walking Surfaces, Footwear
Chair-Supported Stepping Drills
Adaptive Stepping & Weight-Shifting Techniques
Adaptive Tai Chi Walking Techniques with a Chair (stationary & moving)
Seated Tai Chi Walking Techniques
Training includes companion notes, recording, and two (2) 45-min private Zoom sessions with Allison for refinement and testing for certification.
